unhappy forefather

maddie recently descided she does not love to have her diaper changed. in hopes to make this time more enjoyable i taught her about our countrys founding fathers and the hair styles they embraced so gracefully.

she didn't like this hands on approach to history.

so happy

maybe she is so happy because she has found more uses for her tongue
or maybe she is so happy because she has figured out a use for her feet
or maybe she just is happy playing on her toy!

sunday naps

how couldn't you sleep soundly on your dads chest?i just love those skinny legs that still can't seem to fill out her 0-6 months tights

babies

looks like someone is already possessive and comfortable with her baby.and has somehow figured out how to get her to do her dirty work (nose picking).

bath evolution

bathing babies has never been a simple task for me. one would think that once you have a baby that would become second nature for someone. well, not this mom, cody is much more the natural at all this stuff. here is a picture from maddies first bath which you can see she didn't enjoy much and was really glad to be wrapped tightly in her hooded towel picutured next.liz tried to show me the way to bathing in the sink, which again, wasn't very good at. i just couldn't keep her slippery body in my arms well enough to wash her properly. this is also our only evidence of her baby acne. she had it on her blessing day but it doesn't appear in the photographs.

for this reason maddie has simply outgrown her newborn bath but i am having a hard time letting it go. i just love her legs down between the netting and the bath. i also love how she has figured out the toy attachment and now i have toys at the other end for her to play with.

i think i better do something soon before she pulls and kicks her way off the netting.

playing with paige

Maddie loves her Nannie but lately she has really been leaning towards kids, any kids, but especially her cousins. We noticed her just staring at Paigey playing with the kid toys and couldn't help but let her down on the action.
and Paige was a great big cousin and shared the toys or found Maddie toys that were age appropriate.

standing tall

After making sure she was safe with a little reassurance from her dad...Maddie stood all by herself the other day. I think it helped that her big brother Drake was on the other side of the glass.
I know...I should wash that door once and a while

Loves to Chew

You may think she is teething but she is certainly not, she just love to chew on anything and everything that comes into view. She certainly loves her aunt Olivia and shows that by loving her Olivia the Pig finger puppets that her aunt let her play with. We love to put the finger puppets on as we read of Olivia the Pig's adventures and think how great she is just like our Olivia.
I just love to watch her grow and develop each day. She has a mind of her own and gets what she wants. Often times she is leaping from my arms to get the thing she is after. She will pick up each item and examine it and as she is done she throws it and gets then next thing she is after.
Maybe she loves her finger puppets a bit too much.
I couldn't resist this picture. Cody and I love to go on drives on Sunday. Often we find ourselves at Farmington Bay checking out future duck hunting spots but this Sunday we got to go to Grandpa's duck club to drop the decoys off for the season. Maddie was excited to drive on the dirt road out of her car seat. She wasn't so excited when she had to be restained when we hit the pavement and has learned this high pitch noise to let us know she is not having it. Luckily she is so cute that we just love all of the different noises she is mustering out.

all on her own

Maddie has really taken to reading and playing on her own lately. We got her some books about little gosling friends in preparation for the Easter Holiday and she loves the little birds. She loves to sit on the bed behind me while I work and read and play.
I couldn't help but add one of her favorite furry friends. It is no wonder she fears no animal. Yes, we have two dears, a duck, a bed, our computer and files and my work stuff all in a little room. It is quite the guest room.
