first flight SLC to RDU and back

Maddie (and my mom and I) survived her first flight(s) as we ventured out and about to visit Emily and Jon in Raleigh, NC. Our first flight was a little rough being from Salt Lake to Atlanta on a full plane so Maddie was on my lap. Luckily she is a great kid and mostly just entertained those around us. She loved the layover at the airport where she pushed her stroller, we saw a guy choke at the restaurant and she played with her toys at the gate. The final stretch from Atanta to Raleigh was great with a seat to herself Maddie slept most of that flight. That nap started the trip off to a funky nap and sleep routine. In order to use frequent flyer miles we had to have two layovers on the way home. Again we were lucky enough to have two of the three planes empty enough to let Maddie have her own seat to sleep. She was wiped out when we came home after a week long vacation (our family Halloween party pictures will prove it). Here are a few pictures of our time spent before our road trip. Maddie loved "rags the dog" that was given to Em by my grandma as well as the collection of balls in thier living room, she had fun sleeping with me on the couch when she woke up in the night due to a cough and finally the thing we all loved most was Jon's homemade fruit smoothies!
Everyone needs a little deep fried food while in the south. Here is Jonny carring Maddie her favorite way of the trip on our way to a fancy bbq dinner in downtown Raleigh.

day at the stylist

Maddie and I survived a day at Olivia's beauty shop. With a little ride on the chair Maddie was satified for a few minutes. We love to sing "I am Bringing Home a Baby Bumble Bee" when Maddie wears this funny outfit.
After the first session of General Conference we packed up for a little nature drive. Maddie stuffed her face and then snoozed the rest of the ride to wake up just in time to do a little posing. We love the fall but were a little disappointed in the colors this year. Many of the leaves have already fallen where some were yet to change. Cody says he thinks it is because the weather has gone cool and warm too many times the fall for the colors to all be changed together. It was a great drive up Provo Canyon, through Sundance and down American Fork and home in time for Priesthood Session. Thanks Olivia for the new style!

doing what we do

Maddie and I have a great life together here at home everyday. If we are feeling wild we make the trip across town to visit our aunt and cousins. Now that she can see the world she has been missing the greater part of her 14 months of life she is making up for it. Now she wants everything I have and wants to do what I am doing. Luckily the chap stick was the great need she had this day. Look she actually has a bow in her hair, which I am sure was ripped out shortly after the photo was taken.

This particular day we were feeling extra wild and went on a walk once we arrived at Liz's. Maddies stroller made a perfect seat for me when we returned. We were lucky to have Aunt Teddy and Uncle Rocko there are the walk strapped in as well.
