really we just had to post this funny clip of little maddie just having one of those days.

growing up

here is our best attempt to show the beginings of Maddie first tooth! This is what we are welcomed by each morning well we have now lowered the bed so our little bug doesn't come over the railing.

When I got Maddie from her afternoon nap she was changing the settings on the mobile her cousin Bridger let her borrow that you can see behind her.

She has moved on from baby books and toys and onto the big kid games. She loves to play with anything she see someone else play with and we were playing games with friends and family the other night and so she thought she must give it a try.

Jon Wade, PhD

Jonny, my sister Emily's husband, walked today and received his PhD from Vanderbilt. I cannot imagine the mental strength one must have to obtain such a degree. As many are aware Nashville has been struck from recent flooding which lead to nearly total loss of Em and Jon's condo. So thier week of celebration was changed to a state of emergency and repair. In all this turmoil we hope they are able to find peace, happiness and a moment to celebrate thier great achievement!
While Em and Jon were last here we found these goofy images on my phone to take pictures with. Little did Jon know this would end up on the internet. Love you Jon and Em and CONGRATS!

lake fishing

we have done a little fishing from the shore with maddie but this was our first on jordanelle, in a boat, with a life jacket and with our dear friends ryan and emily. maddie was sure happy to be out enjoying some fun in the sun (and a little wind). she didn't know what to think about the life jacket. she had a serious look the whole time she had it on. nothing like a little power bait to keep the little one entertained. em saved the day when she noticed cody's pole a bending. cody jumped right on it and set the hook. within seconds ryan was there with the net.

watermelon

Maddie got to feed herself for the first time this weekend. She sure loved her new seat and tray. We thought watermelon was fitting for the season. It was adorable to watch her enjoy. Sadly my movies wont upload so pictures will have to do.

9 month check up

We just returned from Maddie's 9 month check up. Sadly we didn't have a room with the scale in it so I was unable to get a picture on the scale like my last check ups (the things that are important to me :). We were glad to find out there were no shots administered just a prick of the finger to perform the Hemoglobin test which Maddie passed with ease.

One wouldn't imagine her stats if they saw this girl eat (still nursing every three hours, whole grain cereal w/ fruit for breakfast, a fruit and veggie for lunch and protein and a veggie for dinner).

We plan the appointments perfectly so she is able to come right home and sleep it off. I am not sure if you can see her little ring finger (luckily they didn't prick the finger she sucks) with the little bandage. She has this thing lately were she likes to be apologized to when anyone does anything that isn't satisfactory to her. She was wippering and carrying on until the doctor said sorry for all of the blood and put the bandage on, instantly she was just fine.

shorts weather

On cold stormy weather days like today I wish it were "shorts weather" like we have had recently. We love to take our puppy on walks on Sundays and last week was a particularly perfect temperatured day so we had a delightful afternoon walk as a little family.

Maddie prefers the big kid water bottles unless we are with Paige and Ethan then she will drink out of the similar kind of sippy cups they are. She certainly has a mind of her own and we love watching that develop and bloom. Don't you just love those long skinny legs (and feet and toes)?
